I have a white gaura plant in my back yard. From my kitchen window, the flowers on the slender stalks look like they're just floating in air. The bumblebees must've been checking them out, because the flowers were bouncing around in the still air. It was really fun and peaceful to watch.

Is there something bad hat is going on around us? Hmmmm. Not in my bubble. i start my morning having a glass of kombucha in my muskoka chair, listening to the mourning doves and bullfrogs chirping. then I milk the goat. sincerely teh two most peaceful things in this world. quiet time to reflect onhow thankful I am for this life. I let other people worry about that. I Thank God for my pantry and freezer full of food, and the animals in my barnyard who will keep my nourished in times of crisis. If things get worse than that, I rest in the assurance that God will provide.

Perfect! I was thinking about starting a 'little gratitudes' thread.
We didn't have our ice maker hooked up for three years. Now, two years later, I still love that cold, cold glass of plain ol' water with crushed ice during the day. It's the simple things in life.

We went on a small outing today to a nearby river with a falls, and we hiked in and then just sat and watched the water for a long time. Some friends went with us but we didn't talk very much over the sound of the falls. There are berries just about ready to pick, and I managed to find about three ripe huckleberries (note to self, MUST go back in a couple weeks when they are all ripe!). The path had been manicured clean by some forest service folks at some time recently and we only saw a couple of other hikers, pleasant-faced people who waved a friendly hello. I had my ridgeback with me, she is eight now and has mellowed so nicely, she stays at my side without me having to even think about it or use a leash, what a pleasure she is to have. Our friend has three children, and their questions were cute and their company pleasant, making me wish my own sons were so young again too, but my youngest was with us and was being a real good kid today.
When we came home, the boys really enjoyed all our our animals, they milked the goat (sort of) and collected the eggs and then we made ice cream. They couldn't wait for it to get all the way chilled, so they drank theirs from the bowl, like ice cream soup. I waited an extra half hour to have mine, but ended up drinking ice cream soup just like them. Now all the boys are outside in the dark, tramping on the trampoline, while us adults relax inside. I'd say it was a really good day.

Sounds like you had a day in Heaven.

Exactly X 10! I choose not to participate in the nervous feeling and discussions that are all the rage now about the economy, wars, politics, etc. I know these things are happening~ I have been prepared for this since first ever reading my Bible and developing a faith in the Lord. Everything else is secondary to the profound peace of knowing that God is in control, I am not, and it all turns out good in the end. :)

My moments for today: I was up early, the cicadas were singing in the trees. Rather than visit our friends' house to feed their cats on the way to church I decided to go without the family then come back and get them. I rounded the corner of our street to head up the hill and a mama wild turkey poked her head out of some shrubbery to see if it was safe to cross. She waited until I passed then brought her brood out across the street.
And last night, for maybe the 4th time since I've lived here (22 years) I came home from DH's band gig to find a doe walking up our street.
When I got home from cat feeding I found my 9 yo son on the deck blowing soap bubbles. Sheer simple joy!

Thank you for this thread, Jamie. Nice to escape the doom and gloom for bit.

I'm pleased because yesterday I finished all the required chores for the weekend. Today I can just goof off. ie: Figure out making fingerless gloves on the knitting loom.

:woot

You are quite welcome! Not all of us are at the same place in our life's journeys (so we may have different situations, motivations and concerns) and I wanted to hear the small victories or moments of others. Yes, living vicariously through others! :p

Yes, life goes on, and as the saying goes, we need to stop and smell the roses here and there.

Leaving shortly to go celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my aunt and uncle..... :D
