I have had many dogs in my life and they were all special and precious to me, but one was more so. I actually have his picture, leash, paw print, and favorite toy on a shelf- I guess it is a shrine of sorts. I didn't even do that for any of my family members- not even my parents. Sometimes a dog really touches your heart.

While I agree with most of you - I would not have a beloved pet's name tatooed on my foot...she's grown and can do whatever she wants with her body.

Well, she is an actress. Maybe her foot was the only place that wouldn't get to much notice when she is acting. "Norman" across her chest, or on her arm, or wherever, might limit the number of roles she could take. I'm an old fuddy duddy, and don't understand why anyone would get a tattoo - but that's just me, I know. But I can easily see that if your body is what you use to make your living you don't want to muck up the more visible bits.

That's a really good point.

I'm not much of a tattoo person. I've just never seen one that I actually liked...ever. I have a 15 yr old dog though who won't be with us much longer. I've had him for half of my life, and there's going to be a HUGE hole in my heart when he goes. I'd consider getting a small paw print (very small) tattood somewhere....but I doubt I'd ever actually do it.

I have five tattoos, so I feel as though I can say this: There are a shocking amount of bad tattoos out there. SHOCKING.

I am about as huge a dog lover as a person can get, but I think if I was getting a tattoo with a name, it would be my three CHILDREN.

Can you imagine how your kid would feel if you tattooed your DOG's name? I dunno, I'm just trying to picture my own mother with the name "Pokey" (our family dog) on her leg. :gig

My child is still alive. My dog is not.

Believe me, I have about 100 beloved dogs whose names are engraved on my heart, I do understand, more than you probably know, since you probably don't know me, OrganicKate. But I tend to have a lot of dogs so my body would fill up with names quickly (not that there isn't plenty of space!). :gig I would quickly become the tattoo lady.
