I thought about the preppers that are thinking a massive solar hit will change the way we live. bet they are a tad disappointed

all seems fine here. I don't think it was powerful enough to do tons of damage like in 1859

Those interested in solar flares can get email notifications from the Australian government's Bureau of Meteorology, at
http://www.ips.gov.au/
(Or http://www.ips.gov.au/Products_and_Services/4/1 for the actual list of alerts that are available)
I've been a subscriber for about a year and really like getting the information in near-real time.
Well Bless Your Heart do you realize that the rest of the posts were made before 3/8/12 and the flare in question was in 2010? I must admit you had me going for a while. PS most of us survied the flare. Sorry I am so rude.

<shrug> I don't mind rudeness (though, if you really were "sorry" about it you wouldn't have hit the "submit" button, so typing "sorry I'm so rude" is oxymoronic).
I just don't see a need to start a new thread when one already exists.
Now, about those solar flares...

About WHAT SOLAR flares exactly? That was the point of my comment. At the peak of the cycle [right about now] flares happen, several in any given day. During the 'quiet' period they happen about once a week. So what was your post about? You were right in your PC way I started the post angry about you calling 'Wolf' then I cooled down a bit and said I was sorry and then I submitted it so others were not taken in like I was.~gd

Denise, thanks for the websites. I find them particularly interesting!

~gd, don't you have any fence posts on your place? :p

I was just being silly - My grampa used to tell me that he liked to argue. He said if he couldn't find someone to argue with he'd just argue with a fence post... He was a wonderful man - smarter than a whip and didn't mind sharing it with anyone who'd listen and some who wouldn't, lol!
