I adore my pug who is snorking under my chair right now. Such great characters. Stan has lost some vision over the years. Pug eyes are prone to injury. Our first pug Joey was a rescue who was quite blind already when we got him. Both suffered from cataracts more than anything. They adapted quite well. Stan is now deaf as a rock too. But he copes. Stan gets around the house and yard with no problems. Joey did too. He could go out in the (fenced) yard and find his way to an edge and follow it back to the house even after he went completely blind.
Not that I'm pushing you to keep her. But don't let vision loss be the reason not to if you're considering doing it!

Well, we are still holding on to some tyoe of hope that she realyis lost, and someone will claim her.

She really has a sweet personality. However, we are learning more about her as the hours progress. She knows not ONE command. Not sit, not come, not even go on (=which I say to my dogs constantly).

She is also not outdoor potty trained. She did number two early this afternoon, ( I attributed it to her being stressed and not wanting to call out to be let out), but we have taken her out 4 times today, all for good lengths of time, and she would not pee outside, However, she just tinkled on the kitchen floor. Strating to look more and more like a puppy mill dog. :(

I had a coworker with a mostly blind and deaf pug. It got around fine and even made new friends one day. The owner found it playing on the patio with a litter of Fox kits!!!!

The momma was calmly laying in the bushes just a little ways away. Momma fox would bring over the kits for "play dates" every couple of days.

I'm so sorry to be late to this party, don't know how I missed it!

We lost our pug last March 31st; he died in my arms of liver cancer. He was also a puppy mill dog (these people had 300 dogs on their property & were prosecuted, THANK GOD). Anyway, we never could potty train him (& we had him 5 years); he wore diapers while he was in the house. :)

He also had eye (& teeth) problems; according to his med records he had something called macropalpebral fissure syndrome. It was like the edges of his irises were smudged or blurry (hard to describe). I had to give him eyedrops every day that I ordered from a compounding pharmacy in AZ.

I hope he gets a good home (hint, hint!). Pugs are real funny characters & I think you'll find she's worth all the trouble. ;)

Thanks, I might have to pick your brain later. My dd took pics but hasn't uploaded them onto my computer. I want to show you guys what her eyes look like. it is sad. But she is wonderful. and she is going pee outside. still working on pooing outside, but I'm sure we will get there.

I honestly admit I have never been a small dog fan, but she is winning me over.

Really, just the tear stimulator, twice a day. The canine opthomologist (yes, there are such things) wrote: "If the pigmentation of his left cornea continues despite adequate tear production, we may want to consider medial canthoplasty surgery to correct his eyelid abnormalities." I guess it never progressed to that, they never recommended the surgery (whew!). He never seemed to be in any pain from it, which was the most important thing to us. And he never went completely blind. :)

I AM soooooooo glad you posted this!!!! themore reading I do, this is def what she has. she can not blink fully, has no tears, her eyes are deformed, and it appears that she has a thickened area on the bulbous part of her eyes which would appear to cause her partial blindness., with the right eye seeming to be worse. she might in fact have pannus also, but she def has this.

I'm begging my dd to upload pics, she is bribing me for ice cream the little <<insert explicit>> ok, so she is getting ice cream . pics to follow....
