Spring Cleaning product PICS?! - soaps, laundry, cleaners, etc.

I use Zote; it IS a little on the soft side, but I just grate it in my food processor, takes about 2 seconds. And when melting in the water, I just keep mixing with my whisk, takes about 10 - 15 minutes to get it all incorporated.

Kintty, your food processor??? I can't imagine that!! How much water do you dissolve it in?

Ha ha - the food processor is for the GRATING only! I just use the grater disc and it's very quick. Then I dump the grated soap into a pot of 4 C. simmering water and whisk until it's all melted. Then whisk in the 1 C. washing soda and 1 C. borax, and once that's all blended, dump into a 5 gallon bucket and fill with hot tap water. After that, I like to put in 1/2 gallon milk cartons, so it's easy to pour. I don't fill them all the way - leave room to shake it up before use.

Sounds easy! I'll have to cruise the thrift stores for another food processor. So it sounds like one bar of soap should be diluted in 5 gallons of water, and perhaps that's why I'm still getting too thick a gel solution.

I had a few scraps of Zote bar laying around w/o the wrapper. They must have been at my house for at least 6 months like that. When I grated them, the normally soft bar was rock hard and grated into fine powder perfect for making laundry soap.

It's been a long time since I've posted here. I'm still using the rosemary/mint vinegar spray cleaner and love it. I don't think I'll use anything else again. I've been making a few other things, too.

Dishwasher tablets


Liquid soap (paste and diluted pictured) for hand wash, dishwashing, and mixed w/baking soda for a sink and bath soft scrub.


Carpet freshener, toilet bowl freshener tablets, deodorant (pictured)


Lots of bar soaps.....(goat milk, chocolate, coconut milk, castile, etc)


And lotion bars (solid hand and body lotion)

Wooo, it's been a long time since I've been here. Moolie, the black soap (I think it looks like Ding Dongs, lol) is pine tar soap. It is actually a very dark brown. Dishwasher tablets.....I'll have to look up the recipe and get back to you. It's been a while since I've made it.
