stinging nettles as a farm crop

I got nettle seed a few years ago from bountiful gardens in CA. I love my nettle. I have some in the ground,and some in pots.

My 8yo was most unfortunate to brush against some during hide-and seek, and it hurt him for quite some time. I rubbed some tooth/gum numbing gel dh had when teeth were pulled.

I don't mind thorny or stinging stuff as long as the plant has some sort of use.
