BIL owns the land next to ours. We want to plant some fruit trees, but don't have a ton of flat sunny area so DH asked BIL if he would mind if we planted the trees on his land. We would buy them and tend them and share the produce.

He said, "That sounds like alot of work and the cost of spraying and all when compared o what you pay at the market doesn't make sense to grow your own...."

This is a man who is currently NOT WORKING! :barnie
:th

HE truly does not get it. :he

Geezzzz

Tell him money grows on those trees. He already seems to believe that is some sense.

That's too bad. He must not like fruit too much. I can't wait for our fruit trees to start growing some edible apples. The cost of produce is ridiculous. I have 5 kids that love fruit and it cos an arm and a leg. Wish we could grow citrus here.

You can come to my place and plant all the apple trees you like! :D

BIL sounds like all the folks around here...they won't plant an apple tree in their own yards but will feel free to try to bully me out of my apples whenever possible. They always use the refrain, "When old man Raines lived here, he let us come and get all the apples we wanted." (Old man Raines has been dead for many years now!)

You betcha! The first year I was deluged with very rude people assuming they could invade the property and take what they will. I think the word got out....I only had one fellow stop this year and, when told he was welcome to pick apples, never returned!

I wasn't mean to these folks but I did tell them that the apples were for sale and they were welcome to buy all the apples they wanted. I gave away tons to my neighbors and my family. Anyone else was offered apples for sale. No more pests in my orchard now! ;)

We have apples but they need to be sprayed, this last two seasons they were SO buggy that most of the crop was unusable let alone sellable. I was bartering with the old man across the street my apples for his pears and boy did I get the better of that deal!!

His pears were so much better than my apples I felt guilty!

I want to plant peach another variety of apple and plums. Citrus won't survive here to far north. Heck I can't even grow watermelon well!

BIL is just SO lazy that even while out of work he isn't even looking he's "certain" his employer will be taking him back any day now. :th
