I just realized that It's so nice to have chickens back in the chicken yard again. Even if they are too young to lay eggs, I still like caring for them. I'm very thankful to have them 👍

Two of the cockerels I'm keeping.

This one could use a bit more black underneath, but other than that he isn't looking bad. Starting to really get the saddle feathers on now at 21 weeks. Not old enough to be interested in girls yet. Silkies are slow maturing.

This is a 3rd gen project bird. He's more orange than I like, but he's very silkie in looks. Can't tell he's 1/8 ameraucana. I'll raise him up and breed him to some full silkie girls along with back breeding to his grandmother and great aunt. He hatched from a blue egg so there is a chance he carries one copy of the gene.
