I agree. I hear things almost daily that I can't dispute or say one way or the other. I am not a new Christian, but I guess I am new to actually trying to learn and understand. I have found that the only source of true information is the bible itself. NOT what someone has been trying to teach me. I listen to what they say and consider it carefully, then I compare it to the bible and if they don't come out the same for me then I set it to the side. I find that for me it seems to be better that if in doubt read and pray.
Good for you! And, that's a favorite trick of Satan's. He knows the Bible better than any of us do, and will twist it to try and trick us.

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field the the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said,

From the temptation of Jesus: Matthew 4:6 And saith unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written,

Satan and his workers are transformed into angels of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15.

And, Paul warns against anyone preaching any other gospel, even an angel. Galatians 1:6-9.

IMO, there are plenty of topics in the Bible that we can all discuss that will be useful to the growth and development of all w/out getting into things that will cause controversy. I've found that the majority of things that cause controversy ARE NOT important to salvation, but are different ways that people interpret part of the Bible. And, this is the same reason we have different types of churches. I think our best bet is to find areas that we agree on, and stick to them.

Well, guys, I wasn't exactly suggesting we start topics that produce strife nor was I caring about feeling justified. I just thought that maybe we were mature enough to discuss topics without letting it get out of hand or arguing.

I get it that you all don't want to discuss end times prophecy and that is okay with me. I don't like to argue either and I just couldn't imagine why such a topic would even start arguments.

The horse is dead and beaten now. I'm sorry that I introduced a topic that makes you all feel you must argue. Can we get past this now? :)

I thought the topic was were we afraid to die, not end times? I must admit this thread goes so fast some days I have a hard time commenting because the discussion has changed before I finish reading.

Are we reading John yet?

Sorry, didn't see you were posting the same time as me.

Well I'm reading John!
I think that is what we're supposed to be doing...the first epistle of John, not the gospel.

I have been extremely busy lately, but I am in for John, even if I cant comment. It is a great book. the canadian netflix has the Gospel of John on it and I intend to watch it when I get the oppotuntiy. Our church is also still going through the book. (since last september).
I haven't read many of the back posts as I have been busy all last week, but I;m gonna go back and read.

Considering we are multidenominational, I do think sticking to less controversial topics is best. I would hate to see this thread get closed due to controversy.
Starting John tonight. :) (again)
