That's a shame. But, you did the best you could for her, and actually by not passing her along to someone else, you are still doing your best for her.

I have a brain damaged mare who will never leave my farm, also. If worst comes to worst, she will be put to sleep rather than ever have anyone else try to handle her.

I just think you need more of these for your brave and noble decision.
