The gears are made of harden steel, no plastic or aluminum used in these. The base is made of cast metal with a powder coat finish. The base is made completely by the Amish to fit Bosh attachments. In fact the machine supports several Amish families in Ohio. For the cost shop what other back to basics stores are charging, as much as $200 more. It will out last an electric mixer, no motor no brushes to burn out.
Gee how do they do a powder coat without using electricity? Do they hand cut those hardened steel gears?

Some Jews keep kosher, some do not. Some Catholics fast before communion, some do not. Like most religions, there are different levels of strictness/tolerance among the Amish. Some use no electricity at all, while others allow a certain amount. Not being Amish, I don't know their criteria or rationale on the subject.

I live near the 4th largest Amish community in the country. "Rules" by area of the country and factions within communities.

Amish are often hired to work in "English" businesses where power tools are the norm. A product can be "Amish" made without really be true Amish

You should see the line outside the local Radio Shack after the big-honcho bishop guy makes his rounds every 6 months. :gig
