I don't think I have ever put on a cowboy/girl boot. Wifey I'll take your word for it. They just look to pointy for me.

i never have good luck with tall boots, although i really wish i did. i have big ole calves and smallish ankles, so any boot that fits my calf is huge in the ankle- exactly where i need support after breaking both ankles years ago.

when i fox hunted and showed horses regularly i had some fancy dress boots custom made. i spent a fortune and they still didn't fit well in the ankle. i gave up.

I'd like to get some Ariats as well, but I don't have the $100+ needed for a pair. All of my rodeo friends swear by them, comfort, width, etc. I have a pair of Carhartt boots, but they are heavy and don't fit right.

I usually wear old rubber chore boots or my old lace up ropers. I think I've had them for 15 years!

I am filling a change jar. When it is full it should be around $300. I figure I can get something good for around that. Since it will be the last pair of boots I buy and I will be buried in them, I can justify the expense :D

Ok, checked out the Ariats and the Fluevogs. Don't like the look of the Ariats and Fluevogs don't come in wide calf. I really like the fluevog style though.

I want some good boots. Not just good boots...perfect boots. Leather, wide calf, stylish yet functional. Something I can wear to work and still be comfortable wearing if I have to run from the Xerox guy after he gets turned in to a zombie by the soyjoy bars he munches on while fixing the fuser.

WIDE CALF (as mentioned above...I have meaty legs)
These are what I have and are rated for -40F or -40C, either way you can kick the dead out of any repairman and cook a can of beans in the hilt to boot. Xerox actually has a recipe out for meaty calf surprise, of course you have to make sure your copier is working with a clean fuser.
