I thought she said Cat's throat. I thought that was a major thing. But a calf now I am really impressed.

This is a neat idea.

We just moved to our new home last fall. This spring I will be attempting to do a lot more SS things. (Now that we have a large yard.)

For example, we have our very first chickens. They are 4 weeks old.
I can't wait to have our own eggs. The jury is still out as far as butchering them. They were straight run with the intention of butchering any excess roosters that bully all the other birds. We'll see how that goes.

I also started a compost pile.

And I would like to grow my own veggies. We have a LOT of deer around here, so I really can't grow till we have a securely fenced in area. (Can't afford that right now.)

But I might look into what I can plant that they will leave alone.

The short story is I hope to learn a lot this year.

Oh no, I've tried that with a cat! They have too many sharp teeth! I learned NOT to put my fingers in a cats/dogs/ferrets mouth when trying to medicate!

1) Use of hammer....LOLOL

2) Learned how to put pills down a calf's throat

3) Learned to use cross cut saw

1. I learned to milk!!
2. Made yogurt
3. Made ricotta cheese
4. Made mozzarella cheese
5. Made "Fabulous All Natural Face Cream"
6. Made laundry soap
7. Made goat's milk soap

Made my first batch of goat's milk soap. It looks like white fudge. When I popped it out of the plastic tote I used as a mold, embedded in the bottom was a ton of cat hair from my Maine Coon!!!! Those hairs float in the air and he is shedding, how so many got into my soap and settled to the bottom is beyond me.

I just call it "fiber art!"

1. Switched over to 100% homemade laundry soap.
2. Hung ALL winter laundry (not listed as goal, but anyway )
3. Switched over to 95% homemade dishwasher soap.
4. Got hubby to build 2 bat boxes
5. Have all info for bees, have materials for building own hives and am about to place order for 2 3# colonies.
6. Planning to add 50-70 new chicks to our flock.
7. Planning to raise 10 turkeys for the first time ever.

Wow! That actually looks like a pretty productive spring Great job, everybody!

ETA: New goal---Learn how to make soap the old-fashioned way.

I have learned to be more patient with animals and not getting what I want when I want it after choosing to change our life a little. I need new furniture for my dining room(I don't have any) but I have decided that I will wait till I find something at yard sale that I can refinish or paint.

I want to learn how to quilt.

Quilting is fun! And you can make great gifts, especially for baby showers.

Patience is a skill I am still working on.... :/ If you throw a homemade quilt over a couple of peach crates, no one will notice it's not a chair
