Is there some kind of handicapping procedure? By that, I mean how do we level the playing field? Some are married, some are single. Some are young, some are young at heart. Some have a salaried job in addition to their squirrel work, some work solely on the homestead and have more time to devote. Some have animals, some live in the city.

How difficult can I possibly be?

I'd like the squirreling to be mostly home derived and produced with plain hard work like the real squirrels, such as garden/farm produced veggies, fruits and meats.....but that is not fair to those who don't have farms and big gardens, cellars or big pantries, nor their own woodlots in which to cut wood.

Too many variables to make a completely fair and concise judging of this kind of contest.

I'd say, to make it simple:

Sheer quantity of squirreled stuff. :D He/She with the most nuts wins!!! ;)

Honorable mention categories for other efforts? Like Most Home Canned goods or Best Emergency Preparedness? Or, Most Variety of Things Squirreled?

You guys got any ideas? :hu

I was talking to my mother today about this challenge, and she said something that made me think. She said that my prepping is not the same thing as self-sufficient living, because I am purposefully making preparations for survival should TSHTF, while SSers are living a lifestyle which requires thrift and ingenuity on a daily basis.

She called my prepping a hobby, which I think was a bit harsh, but it did give me pause.

After thinking about it, though, I realized that it's a complete apples and oranges situation and I shouldn't have posted. I apologize for participating. If I were in a similar situation on a prepper web site, my entry would be laughably incomplete. Not nearly enough tinfoil.

Anyway, am deleting the post.

WHAT???? NO Way!!! :th I wish you would not do that! :( That list represented a lot of work and aforethought and is definitely SS....think of all the food you canned! All the food you stored away!

What do all you other SSers think? I, for one, think Ldychef2k may be a prepper but she is also very SS. Heck, most of the SSers on this site are preppers! I think it sort of goes hand in hand. Have you seen SKR8PN's list and pantry pics?? :ep

I think it is a valid Squirrel Challenge entry.....how 'bout you folks? :frow

I agree.

Some of us prep for the year, and some of us for a couple of years at a time, but we are all preparing for the future. What ever that future may hold.
