To everyone who is posting about keeping your heat in the 70's, you realize that you are encouraging germ growth for illness right?

Interesting. Do you have a link or somthing that has info on this? I'd lik to read more on it.

Since rading a few othr articles on heating--my new nighttime low is 55 and daytime high is 65. Kids nor hubby have complained, We also have a gas fireplace in the living room that is occasionally turned on in the evenings.

wow mtn
55 at night. I almost am scared to go that low. I am a freezer..LOL..but it is time to get out the whooley's and socks and such and drop my temp a little lower.

I do have a propane fireplace....maybe time to kick it on and let it warm the house.
But for me, propane being $3.14 per gallon....hmm....I wonder what is the better way to go ya know. Keep electric heat at say 65 or drop to 60 and turn on the stove??? ahhh, decisions, decisions..LOL

I wanted a wood burner but Tony nixed that. He said wood was too hard to cut, stack, etc. and ashes, etc. with chimney construction, etc. etc....hmm...

Sorry no links, going on what I learned in nursing school & stories that I have seen on the news. And read in my local paper that was an AP story.

Furnace settings:

Night: 50
Day: 62-64

I use an electric radiator to warm the room I'm using to 66 in the day, and 60 at night.

what do you mean
you are using a stand alone radiator for extra heat in the room but setting the house low?
