hey javamama!

yep. a very wise man once said "ducks are not chickens" and that is the truth!

and they will warm up to you.. but not if you keep sneaking up on them and yelling: I'M GOING TO EAT YOU!!

just kidding
;-)

i've been 'herding' Miss Duck's babies.. its like herding bugs they are so little. and stinky. and poopy. and wow they really know how to poop up the water..

there is a thread on BYC called something like "the gross truth about ducks" and yep there you have it.

however,

there is nothing cuter than a buncha little ducks in a kiddie pool. yours might be too young to get in the water - remember they can easily get chilled and arent as floaty as they should be just yet. once they are feathered in they will be like little fish swimming around
:)

It's true, watching ducks in water is just about the best thing ever. Even when ours were tiny, we'd put them in some shallow water and watch them have fun. When they were older, we would fill a kiddy pool for them. They were such suspicious buggers, though. After we turned off the hose, they'd come up and carefully drink some of the fresh water, and after around a half hour, one would jump in. It was almost always one of the Khaki Campbells. We also had Rouens, and Cayugas. The Cayugas were my favorites. Gorgeous, laid black eggs, and almost would let me pet them!
