A helicopter?

When my husband was in high school he and his friends went to a christmas tree farm late at night (one of those cut your own places) and loaded a bunch into the back of their friends truck. They set them up on the front porch and put lights on them and everything. Long story short....they got caught and the police made them return the trees and the owner was still able to sell them so he didn't press any charges...I'm not proud and neither is he but the little details are still kinda funny.

I can't imagine someone stealing a gigantic tree like that without SOMEONE noticing, especially with a helicopter involved. :/

It's so brazen that most people wouldn't question it.

No kidding. It wouldn't even begin to cross most people's minds that the tree was being stolen. Unless, of course, it was in your own yard or property :D

i am leaning in the urban legend direction.

Back in the early 90's the rumor was that Empress trees were SO valuable in Japan that they were sending people here to steal them. The story was that they were stolen from a Philadelphia area arboretum.

A few years later the arboretum was in the South somewhere, the story is always a friend of a friend....

Snopes doesn't have it, but I'll look some more.
