Updates. My Dad is alive, he was released from the hospital. He has about a 10-15% chance of a fatal vasospasm over the next 6 weeks, but that's way better than the 45% chance when the brain bleed was active. Thank you all so much for your prayers. It was a great comfort to him to know he was in the thoughts of so many. He knows he's a very lucky man.

In other news, I'm going to be 21 in about 45 minutes. I'm going to get a drink at some bad "mexican" style bar down the street. They're the only ones open. I had had a party planned for last night, at a restaurant then a couple of bars with a big group of friends, but I canceled that when everything was going on with my dad. I wasn't sure if I'd be back in town. And then even when I got back, I just don't want to go through the effort now. I really don't want to see people at all. After all this with my dad, I feel like a lot of the people I see on a regular basis, a lot of my "friends" are really just time sinks that I'm not getting anything from. There are way more important things than people who don't give anything back to you. I also hate those "we're so sorry for you" looks. I know they're usually out of kindness, but I hate being pitied. Or having my misery and sorrow be a point of speculation. Sorry, end rant.

I'm going to take a picture when I have that first (legal) drink. I'll be sure to post it, if I can figure out how. At the very least, I'll put a link and post it on my blog. And then tomorrow I start the delightful process of trying to catch up on all the classes I missed. I only have this last week of classes before finals, and I missed all my classes last week because of the hospital thing. :/ Wish me luck on that, I'll need it.

I don't want to end on a negative note so..... puppies are really cute!

My boyfriend, before he went evil and got me drunk (fyi, typing drunk is HARD)

The cosmo I had: (actually, the second, because the first was in a small glass, this was the bartenders "birthday gift" to me. This was followed by three shots of tequila, and some massive mixed drink. Enough to do me in!)

Edited to say: tequila, not vodka. Tequila is much, worse.

oh girl, that is a lot! Careful on the headache :gig

A little note on friends.....I am 42, been married since I was 21. Life will throw plenty of challenges at you and you will very clearly see who your true friends are and I can tell you from experience....with each challenge, a few drop off the friend list. Bummer, but it is true. Be really selective about who you spend your time with, once someone shows their true colors and you don't like what you see.....put a little distance there and move on to people who really care.

Hang over this morning?
I have woken up feeling better for certain. Nothing that some water and time can't fix though. :) I am fairly peeved at the SO though. I feel like I was hoodwinked.

Dace: I'm finding that out with friends pretty fast. Steep learning curve, and not a fun one. I know it'll ultimately be for the best, but its hard to see people go, even when they're pure poison in your life. Been there and done that. I guess I just need to find friends faster than they drop away! :p

One thing to remember is sometimes the people you have the most in common with may NOT always be the same age as you. This forum should be proof.

Take time to find those few REAL friends. They will be there through thick and thin.
