Sick as a dog. Forgot about my journal there for a while. But now I'm at home, in my boring little apartment, bored out of my mind. SO is studying for an exam tomorrow, and everyone else is busy. Not that anyone wants to spend a beautiful evening entertaining a sick mute girl inside.

I'm booooored. I don't have the energy to move, but I'm bored. And I can't go to sleep, or I won't sleep tonight. And I have a midterm tomorrow. Lame.

I have a heck of a list too. I just can't really move right now. So anything I could do from the couch.

I have a list of that stuff as well.

If you could be only slightly more mobile you could sit on a little stool in my living room and paint a little chicken coop that is in there. (YES I have a little coop in the living room! ) I started working on the finish work on it tonight then got distracted with some company. The coop is designed to hold about two or three hens and hang on the wall so it could be attached to a house, garage or shed and take up less space.

I also have envelopes to stuff and filing to do and .... well the list could go on and on.

I sat on the couch pretty much all day, too.
Except I was just hiding from the world, I had no legit excuse.

Feel better soon!

Still sick. This morning was particularly rough. At least coughs are productive now. Blessing and a curse. I just want to curl up and not move, but I have to go to 6 hours of classes without a single break now. I don't have any idea how I'm going to do this. :(

I GOT A PLACE I GOT A PLACE I GOT A PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a duplex the city over from where I'm going to school, and where SO will be working next year. A duplex, 2bd 1.5 bath, basically two living rooms! HUGE YARD!!!! And even more, the landlords say I can do anything I want as long as I leave *some* grass. And whatever pets I want, as long as no roos. So maybe I'll get a few laying hens and start ripping out that lawn. :D

Any tips for getting rid of a yard?

Also: finals this next week, moving next weekend, then the 17th I'm GOING TO COSTA RICA! Study abroad program, I'll be there for 6 weeks! Omigosh it doesn't even seem real yet. I'm way excited though.

Sorry I was gone so long, family life blew up, and this term is kicking my butt. Hopefully ya'll haven't forgotten me! :D

The easiest way to get grassy areas ready to plant is to flatten cardboard boxes and lay them on the area. You can pile dirt on top of that and the grass dies underneath from no sunlight. When the box breaks down, the new plants roots will just have more room.

We have missed you - glad to have you back! :D

I agree the best way is to just mulch it down. No digging at all. I use thick sections of newspaper and then add straw, shavings, leaves or what have you on top. Leave it a bit and you can plant (especially started transplants) by digging a hole right through the mulch layer!
