we moved from the old place which was 200+ acres...then his mother decided she wanted to build a house directly next to the old farmstead where we were living.

so we promptly moved to our new place - just 15 acres. and installed a gate. and its at least 45 mins driving away. and i dont answer the phone when she calls. but this state may not be big enough for the both of us, if you know what i mean
;-)

we dont farm for profit so our 15 acres is good enough for now...but we are filling up fast!

(yikes! i have turkeys on my roof...i guess its time to hustle everyone in for the evening)

turkeys on the roof! yikes...in the oven they go for misbehaving..HA HA

wow that is unfortunate you had to "exit" the 200 acres. But alot of land is alot of work as I know!

hmm..don't get along with MIL I take it..HA HA HA

lucky here Tony's parents are great people and so are mine so I don't have to run anywhere. 15 acres is more than enough if not farming for profit! I know you have tons of work on that amt. of land anyway.

cool

apparently she doesnt think i'm funny. at all.

and she has poodles - need i say more?
me = huge working german shepherds
her = stupid fluffyheads.

like oil and water, baby....
;-)

we got the turkeys off the roof. they are in the silly 'teenager' phase right now. soon they'll be to heavy for those shenanigans but for now they are just ridiculous!

and how cool is this - yesterday my turks were all screaming ....and they were having a face off with wild turkeys from the woods! each on their own side if the fence all puffed up in full display. pretty darn cool... of course by the time i got the camera they had moved on...

for now 15 is fine for us - and we are starting from nothing. most of it is treed so there is a lot of chainsawing around here.

oh yes alot of trees means alot of work turning it into pasture type and crop land.

thankfully we have a front end loader and backhoe and we pushed down 15 acres of woods a while ago to make more pastureland. with the equip. it is so easy but still a huge mess and work.

oil and water baby! :gig

oh me, into big dogs definitely. I am into shepards, collies and dobermans. Next dog will be a coon hound I am thinking. little dogs are food for bigger dogs (now don't all you little dog lovers get mad at me..lol...just find no use for the little ankle biters for me.)

I never liked poodles. Just me again. I hate the stain around their eyes. Just seems "I don't know" nasty?????:p

15 acres will get you alot of SS lifestyle definitely!

wild turkey faceoff...I love it! We have tons more wild turkey in the area now also. see them in pastures all the time or crossing the road near my house. one group seems to pass over the road at the same time. so far no roadkill--lucky for them. can't say the same for those stupid flock of guineas that cross the road. feathers everywhere...stupid pea brains..LOL

The owner starts with like 15-20 in the flock and within the month he is down to 2-3 ---sad truly..LOL

I'm trying to use more baking soda and vinegar for cleaning, but haven't been able to give up dryer sheets or laundry soap. In due time
We all make choices about what works for us. While I make my own laundry soap, you will have to pry my Clorox Complete dishwashing gel from my cold, dead hand....LOL

I have a small house on a small lot in the burbs. My ability to be SS is naturally going to be limited. I just do what I can, and like freemotion said, acquire skills.

Despite being on a small lot, I have ducks, garden beds, and a pond. I harvested some fresh brussel sprouts for dinner last night and I had fresh duck eggs for breakfast. Sure, I wish I had grown my own pie pumpkins, but I didn't have room, so I got those at a farmer's market.
