My unrelated tom died :( until I have new breeding stock I'm only breeding for meat, unfortunately. Since my tom is the brother to one of my hens and the son to the other, lol. Next year I'll have multiple genetic lines though!

Ah... Ok... That's kind of where I'm at also. Just breeding for delicious tasty meat :drool.

I really would like to get a few Sweetgrass hens and a Tom. Sweetgrass is beautiful breed and fairly new on to turkey breeds (1996).

They are cool. Problem is Porters won't let you order specific Breeds. You have to get an assortment. I wanted chocolates from him but I found that out. It's a bummer!

Yes it's hard getting a specific breed of turkey and small numbers of chicks also. I think if someone wanted to invest the time and energy there could be a market for small specific turkey breeds. I mean what I'm I going to do with a minimum order of 15 turkeys? I don't know about you but 5 or maybe 6 of a specific breed is about what I could handle, unless breeding for meat.

My 3 BR (two hens and one Tom) is just about right for me. They are easy keepers unless you get more than one Tom in with hens - then all hell breaks loose.

Checked again to still no eggs :( this time.last year I had a bunch of eggs but this year is different it's definitely colder than last year. I guess my turkeys are pretty good at weather prediction because chances are if they laid eggs they most likely would freeze. Seems like winter is hanging on a little more.
