Don't worry if you don't have much luck with yukon golds. They're harder to grow. But, when they do grow, they'll get gigantic.
Also, frost won't hurt potatoes in the ground. Just bring dirt up over the leaves (or cover with straw) and they'll be fine. We had some get frosted on one year, turned them black but they grew back. Never bloomed, but made potatoes anyway.
