K15n1 if you need fermenters cheap you can get pickle buckets from local restuarants for free or pick up the orange olive barrels from most co-ops that are food safe. Rubbermade Brute cans are food safe plastic.

i've used all i've listed for fermenting the big thing to do is to allow sanitizer to soak (overnight) in the pickle buckets and olive barrels to make sure the spices are out and check them over very good before buying them any internal scratches don't buy them. as for airlocks for large fermenters blow off tubes are great!

here is a quick look at one for those that haven't used it.

also if the acidity is low on the mashed up oranges or can be cut (lowered) you can add kefer to the mash and have a nice fermented drink! i use fruit in my kefer regularly.

I think I would have been baking (loaf cakes, fruity muffins) and cooking (chicken dishes, pork dishes, stir fry beef) with them since they were canned and they'd be mostly gone by now (assuming a winter harvest?) but there are lots of good ideas above too :)

When I was a kid there was a soda [bottles only, called ORANGE CRUSH with about an inch of pulp in the bottom of the 8 ounce bottle] yep I am that old that 8 oz was the standard size. young idiots would always try to shake to disperse the pulp and make a sticky mess when they uncapped the bottle. the brand is still around, the product isn't `gd
~gd, there is a fresh orange tasting soda called Orangina that sounds a lot like your old Crush--it looks like real orange juice but is fizzy and has a thick layer of pulp on the bottom. If you gently invert the bottle before drinking it mixes nicely. It comes in sort of light-bulb shaped bottles and is pricey, but I've had it at company picnics and it is tasty :)

(Oh, and you don't need to be that old to remember drinking soda out of 8oz bottles ;) I miss buying a bottle of pop and having the person at the counter knock it open on the bottle opener attached to the cooler )
