Oh I forgot! Yesterday I made note of the cooler weather and how it would be nice to do some work outside for a change. Zach looked at me and said "Do you wanna start on the cider press or build the bigger chicken coop first? I think the coop would be better." :love :love :love :ya :weee :D I was happy. :D
I think i'd be all :love :love :love if mine suggested anything like this too! Instead I've been told we are not building a new coop, especially not this year when we've already built two! So, next spring we are buying one of those premade sheds from the depot :D

:hugs sorry you can't do all the morning stuff you used to! for the four days we were gone I missed doing the chickens in the morning! It's gonna suck when I have to go away for two weeks!

I'll tell you something that a friend of mine did that was really quick and cheaper. He went to Lowes or Home Depot, doesn't matter, and asked if they had any privacy fence panels that were damaged at all that they needed to get rid of. They had 4 that were dinged on the bottom and he was able to offer them half price for them and they took it!

He framed the four corners with 4x4 posts, put a raised floor in with some scraps of plywood and 2x4s he had laying around from an old job site and made roosts out of some small saplings he cut down from the back of the propert that needed to be thinned out anyway.

He put in 3 nesting boxes inside and cut part of one panel to make the door. He only needed a couple sheets of tin for the roof and some of the 2x4s and a bit of hardware cloth for the ventilation in the high part of the slanted roof. I think he spent about $200 for an 8x8 coop and it looks really nice too!

yeah, you obviously haven't seen what the first two look like  :gig  :gig  :gig :gig :gig :gig :barnie we are not in any way carpenterily inclined :D trust me, when all is said and done its better for us to buy one already made, or pay someone to do it, then for us to build another one  by time we get done buying whatever materials we need, and then going back for more, and then having to buy more stuff to fill the gaps and cracks we would actually save money and time to have someone else do it :D

tools, yes. however, just because you want something to be 8x10x10 doesn't mean it will be, especially if you line up your boards the wrong way. also, things like where you place your sheeting and such also plays a role in everything! and, of course, the fun of building on uneven ground! :D

Sounds like you had an adventure. I don't think the birds will worry about it. The will just be glad to have a safe home at night.

Dreamer- Dehydrators are so worth it. We've started buying marked down produce that is still is good shape and drying it for soups and stuff like that later. When peppers are a dollar each and looked yucky, we can laugh- cause we already got 'em at home. Enjoy :)

It sounds like you married the right person! How many people here have a non-supportive SO? Far too many!

Have fun with your food dehydrator! They are awesome! Dried fruit is always a great alternative to candy.
