Tiles are relatively easy to do, as long as you rent the equipment to cut the tiles. The results are spectacular compared to how easy it is. Mix up the cement, put the tiles down with spacers so the grout is even, cut the edges to fit, grout, clean, seal and you are done! Well it does take a long time, but not difficult. Oh, it does take some swearing, too, when things just won't line up.
 Yup, that swearing part is important!!!

It also helps to have a good helper, who makes sure the mice or other possible vermin don't come up the heater vent ;)

I took today off work! I am feeling really decadent (well, 300 hours of saved flex time-vacation/sick time combined helps). My boss is aware that I am feeling burnt out, and offered to have someone come in to day so I could have a 3 day weekend! Well, I spent part of it sick with a terrible cold, but I am feeling better today.

I did stuff today that would make me feel productive. I got up early, SO went to work at 7:30 and I started. I made 2 lbs of soap (lemongrass and sage). I went food shopping (needed sudafed and Mucinex, too). Got back and made yogurt because I really need to start doing that regularly again and start eating better. I made myself chicken livers for lunch that I am sharing with my dog, Harley (the helper and vermin buster). Did laundry. Made up more laundry soap.

OK, I am playing on the computer now, while we eat lunch :p

Still to do: get another round bale out in the pasture before it starts pouring for 2 days.

I always say "playing on the computer" is doing research, at least when I am on this forum :p

Our floor is done! Yeah! Now I just have to clean up. Haven't taken pictures yet, though. Going to have to do that soon to finish the documentation. I do think I'm going to invest in the cleaner they sell to get the haze off the tiles. Then seal them and done! :weee

Now I'm off to buy paint to re-paint the tan walls something a bit more interesting. Along with the two hundred other things I want to do today. I took the day off again- we found a pharmacist who used to work with us who is looking to pick up some hours and I have way too many flex time hours so my boss said I could start taking Mondays off. Of course, she has said things like this before and it only lasted a week before there was a reason I couldn't take off. But, this is good while it lasts!

The tiles are done! Grouted, and cleaned. :weee

I bought paint for the room Monday. Of course, perfectionist SO has to putty first. I want it painted and done by the end of this weekend! It will happen.

Check off step one on our 2 year plan. Next up- rip out the bathroom!

I just called the alpaca farm down the road from me. I drive past their sign every time I go to get hay, but never had the time or nerve to stop in. I found their number on the internet and called to see if they sell their fleeces. (they do sell breeding and show stock, but no mention of fleece). They have a couple fawn colored (and maybe a gray) left over from last year, even though they haven't sheared yet this spring. I'm going to look Saturday! WOO HOO! And I get to meet their alpacas :D I can't wait!

Maybe spread it as thin as you can get it and put it in the sun?
