HI folks,

I am new to this forum but a long time off-grid homesteader.

I live in a solar cabin I designed and built myself. I use solar and wind power. Propane for fridge, stove furnace and OD water heater.

Drilled my own water well, harvest rain and grey water and use a solar composting toilet of my own design.

I garden, hunt and fish for most of my food supplies.

You can take a video tour of my cabin here:

Hope to make some friends and share ideas!

Welcome!!!! It will probably take me about a 1/2 hour to download the video, but I'll get around to it. In the meantime glad to have you here!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I read that same article Tanks. Now they want everyone to rent instead of buy a home ?

Anyone can but a small piece of property and build a self sufficient solar home like mine for under $20,000 easy.

The banks and real estate moguls do not want people to know this and that is why I am spreading the word.

Great video and website. I bought your ebook too great info. It too bad that there isn't a real good source of wood where you live because you use a rocket heater to heat your house.

Thanks Chickenjoe!

I have a small woodstove I keep for backup but wood is expensive here even to haul yourself.

I scrounge wood and have about 6 tons stored away.

propane is good for off-grid because it will run so many appliances but I have solar backups for all my systems if needed.

Glad you like the book!

Hey solarman, I've seen these pictures and video before while searching the web for small cabins but think it was from another web address? , I know it was yours because I remember the refrigerator magnets - didn't you buy a small wind generator and post a video while opening the box? I'm sure I saved it and will look for it later.

I like your setup and am doing the same but a bit bigger - 24' x 24' and no loft. I like your attitude and zest, I too have plans to market many things from the internet once I am situated, and already have six websites collecting google hits and rank.

Thanks again for the info

Don't pay no never mind to the young boy, most of the women folk here are soaking beans for another man and the good ones are boiling salt.

Hey XPC,

You may have seen those pics and videos on many websites as my cabin has been featured in Mother Earth News, Treehugger.com, off-grid.net and my books have been professionally reviewed many times.

I also own homesteadernews.com

I belong to groups like these to help people where I can and encourage people with new ideas!

Have a good one!
