Are those raised beds for your garden in the front of your house?

What would you do different if you had to restart your build from the beginning?

Do you use deep cycle batteries to store power from solar and wind energy?

What voltage is your on demand water heater on, ac or dc?

Some years ago, long before on demand came here in the US, it was popular in Europe. When I got back from Europe, when I lived in my 1st house, I had to special order one. I never did so I am glad to see them in local DIY stores locally.

Welcome to the board!!!

Also I am interested about how much of your food you hunt/fish/grow/gather?

Hey XPC,
You may have seen those pics and videos on many websites as my cabin has been featured in Mother Earth News, Treehugger.com, off-grid.net and my books have been professionally reviewed many times.
Yep, I visit all of those sites regularly. I see that your are in Kentucky too - I am about ten minutes from both the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers and 50 miles from the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Are you up near possum Trot ?

Are you single? If so expect a LOT of marriage proposals from the ladies on this board.
Don't pay no never mind to the young boy, most of the women folk here are soaking beans for another man and the good ones are boiling salt.

Thanks Horse, glad you like the videos!

Xpc, I live in Utah ?

Hi Pioneer,

The raised beds are for my salad garden and I have a regular garden plot for everything else.

I raise rabbits and chickens and hunt and fish for about 50% of my food. I barter for a lot of supplies as well.

I use Trojan T105s and D8 storage batteries.

The OD water heater, furnace, stove and fridge are all propane and cost about $200 for a year.

The only thing I would have done differently is to build the cabin first. I lived in a solar camp trailer for a year- not much room!
