I am doing mine in Rubbermaid type totes, OUTSIDE the greenhouse. I put just a little soil in the bottom of the tote(about 4 inches or so), place the potatoes(or pieces) in the top of the soil, and layer straw or hay over the top. I add additional hay/straw as the plants start to grow and poke out the top. I keep about 6 inches uncovered until they reach the top of the tote, and then just let them go till time to harvest. I haven't had much luck sometimes, but last year when I did them this way, I got some nice good potatoes out of them. Make sure you drill a few drainage holes in the bottom of the totes though. That was one mistake I made year before last...not enough drainage, and the spuds rotted. I'm doing about 10 or so containers this year. I had NO luck at all in the garden with them. Clay soil does not a happy tater make
