Thats the part of the war that just absolutely irks me.........
I didn't say I was proud of it...
Oh I know your not! Your to much like Cindi and me to be proud of it! Heres a weird thing my moms side were slave holders, plantation owners, etc. My dad's dad's side were confederate soliders. My dad's mom's side was related to Abraham Lincoln. Their is lincoln monument like thing in a cemetery up here. And ten miles from it is an Southern manor.
The family did visit Perrysville years ago, my son is old enough now to truly understand the sacrifices on both sides.

A tragic period of our shared history, but look at us now...just braggin whose the better gardner...

I'm sure we could learn a good bit from you too :) No matter we still like ya Jamie  even if you are "one of them" :gig
Yeah, one of my great-great uncles was part of the pillaging horde that tore up your neck of the woods and won some medals doing so. I actually have a cannon ball he carried home after he was mustered out.
I have found a few mini balls from the old war in MY YARD! I live close to Shiloh National Military Park. One of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War was fought just a stone's throw from my place here. It is sad to walk around and see all the gravesites and burial trenches :( LOTS of unknown soldiers :(
I was afraid to ask that personal information of your location, I had a clue it might be the case. With the 150 year anniversaries coming up and a son old enough to understand, that place is on my bucket list before the son gets too old to want to vacation with dad.

Come on down. I know all the good places to hit that would just be OBSCENE to miss! I go to church with a guy who ran tours there for YEARS and retired from the Parks Dept. I could probably set you up a guided tour. He is FULL of knowledge about that place!

hmmm, be careful! DW and eldest DD are heading to NYC later in the spring for HS choir during Spring break, and I need something exciting to do. The youngest DD can help you with the garden while the men-folk go sight seeing.
