Hey um Jamie...my little niece says she has your wife, except she has lost her ear amd her arm somewhere in her room...probably at the bottom of the toybox.
That may be true - the woman I am living with right now hasn't been the same woman from the past 3-4 years. Tell your niece she can keep her - that version of the wife never listened to me anyways, so the ear was unneeded. :p

I may be getting sheep :th Possibly trading off some ducks and a bunch of chicks for a couple Barbado ewes, young ones :D I am supposed to set up a time tomorrow to swap. I hope it's a good deal. Found the guy on CL. I need some lawn mowers

That will have me down to 1 drake and 2 ducks, and no chicks to brood right now :woot

Well my cousin DID show up to break our ground! He cut me a good deal, and I had him come on out. It took about 45 minutes, so he got to stay around a few to eat supper with us :) I LOVE COMPANY! :love I fried up some catfish and hushpuppies and french fries and made a big bowl of fresh coleslaw and a big pitcher of iced tea :) Good food, good company!

It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I won't be able to get our there and haul manure and good stuffs to incorporate into the soil, but phase one is done! I am SO relieved. Turning all that with shovels would have been backbreaking work :th

Looks like I'm not getting sheep. The guy never called me back, so he may have found a better deal for what he had for sale :hu Probably for the best anyway. Keeping them away from the goat mineral block so they didn't get too much copper would have taken some rearranging out there, and quite frankly, I am not up to it mentally, nor physically right now. I'm just happy with things as they are, and I would've missed my ducks too much anyway :p They are a hoot! They need to get to laying some eggs though :/

I had a local lady respond to my ad about selling some goats milk for soapmaking. She didn't want milk, just wanted to see if anyone had information on where to get some good goats. Turns out she's new around here and wanting to get in with the goat owning crowd, may be interested in doing some classes or something since she was into the whole 4-H thing down where she's from in Texas. We had an interesting chat, I showed her around the property and introduced her to most of the stock...the ones who didn't introduce themselves anyway :D She was a PLETHORA of information on feed, protein ratios, proper nutrition for does in milk, and proper conditioning for all the goats. She raised Nubians and Lamanchas for years, and was apparently the go to person for everything goat where she came from. AND I made a cool new friend! I love making new buddies :) She was extremely nice, and forthcoming with loads of knowledge. I like folks I can learn from. She even offered to help me disbud the little doeling properly, and recognized that the big nanny had had a botched disbudding and told me how to fix that and disbud her properly. I didn't even know you could do that after it had been so long!! Pretty interesting stuffs! We basically just walked the property and I listened to her talk. I'm a SPONGE when I am around folks who know what they're talking about, and there aren't many of those around here ;)

So, anyway, I have had a GREAT day! Hope everyone else has too! :hugs

Edited coz I kaint speel :p
