I am tired. I got up this morning and started cooking...5 hours later, I had a messed up kitchen and lunch and dinner yet to cook. :th
;) You need to join the Messy Kitchen Club over on my journal.

Our old house is part of a lot that used to belong to an old brick Victorian house that sat on a corner lot facing North. The story is that the Victorian burned to the ground, all but the bricks, around 1920. At that point the lot was divided into 4 tiny lots for houses that faced East. There was a big cellar on the property and that cellar - which is now my backyard - was filled up with all of the bricks from the house (and God knows what else). Then a retaining wall was built around it and some fill dirt brought in (about 2-3 foot of it). Thus the need for a raised bed in MY backyard for veggies. ;) My BIL's house, which is next door, still has an old brick cistern about half filled in with junk, beside it. I have always wanted to do an excavation to check for treasures, but then it always seemed like a lot of work and I would probably find nothing but bricks. :gig

Ya know...even those old bricks have a decent niche market value. Coming from that time period, and knowing some of the history/age about those particular bricks, makes them worth digging up IMO if you can find a buyer. You may want to look into it :D I would! Besides, who knows what else you'd find?! you could stand to make a pretty penny, for "one mans junk" that you can get your hands on for nothing :hu

Sounds like a really cool place, but then I like that kind of weird historical quirkiness. ;)

I got much of nothin done today. The neighbors came down at around 11, and the twin 3 year olds just left. Those two are a mess, and a bit of a handful  We had fun, but it sure took my plans and tossed them out. I did somehow manage to get two loads of laundry done, and supper cooked in time. I sent the kids home with some homemade pizza. We sat on our bums and watched Ironman, and dragged out the boxing gloves and had a mad brawl in the livingroom, and we made pizza, and sauce, ate all of my remaining apples, and made a huge mess in my (formerly clean) kitchen. The boxing was incredibly funny  Now I need to clean up the mess though. Fun over :( Time to be a grown up again. Next time I have a recipe for mud pies OUTSIDE
