Hey WBF, too bad you chose to close down the Hunger Games discussion - DS and I just got home from seeing. Awesome movie. I'm going to have to read the book trilogy! (DS gave me background info from the book that wasn't in the movie).
The plot has so many twists and turns. The main character is a model of a strong young woman with convictions, deep compassion and a strength of will. Even in the bizarre scenario in which the 24 are placed, many of them are depicted still showing compassion and humanity towards each other.
I don't know a thing about the author's motives or intentions, but the story line I think is positive. The line "Hope... the only thing stronger than fear." snapped me into rapt attention as I watched. I'll be looking for information about the author to see if I can find out more.
I read the hunger game series and enjoyed them all. My sister and I plan to go into town to see it this week, that is if work doesn't relies I am not working anywhere
Cindi, do you plan to see the movie?
The book by
steven King when he was writing under the name Bauchman called the long walk was along the same line. I enjoyed this book as well.
Bambi, yes eventually when it comes out on DVD we'll probably buy it and watch it. I'm not a big fan of Stephen King's writing style. He gets a little too into detail for me and leaves not much for the imagination. It makes his books so long and drawn out I get bored. I read him when I was in High School, but have since developed a dislike for his style. I guess I outgrew him. His stories are okay sometimes....if someone else was doing the writing That's just my opinion though. I like the flow these books have to them. Hard to put one down until you hit the back cover
