I think today was one of the hardest days I have had in a loooooooooong time. It started out okay, then everything went wonky.
The neighbors are all sick with a stomach bug, and I ran to get groceries for them so that the ONE well person in the house could cook tonight. She was busy with the twins, and the twins mom, and the grandad. Now the teen niece is at home sick too. I'm not going down there for a few days I don't wanna be That stuffs nasty.
Anyway, I got that done. I came back home and fed and watered the chickens, ducks, turkeys, and pig. Then I hit the garden and weeded 4 rows of corn and peas which had grown up with grass.
Then I went out into the woods and pulled out 1250 pounds of steel. We have been having help doing that, and he wasn't kidding it is HARD! I outta slap him for not telling the whole truth of the matter I pulled 250 pounds at a time on a metal cart. It sucked to say the least. Now I know what a pack mule feels like :/ Between the truck and the pile of pieces, is a hill. I got up the hill the first time, completely out of breath and had to stop. It's only about 150 yards to the peak. I thought once I caught my breath I'd be okay.....NOT!!! Dowhill was even "more funner" as niecey would say and yet another 150 yards to the bottom Then once out of the woods and into the edge of the yard, it's back uphill. But, just go ahead and try to stop about 400 pounds of cart and metal going downhill. I literally had to run part of the way to keep from getting run over, then yank the stupid thing back up the hill again for another 10 or 15 yards to the truck. I hauled out 5 loads like that. I'm beat. I want a four wheeler, or a horse, or a butler, or something.
Then I had to load the truck, which was even more fun. I took the load off(to finish the house payment) and picked up the neighbors niece from school and stopped by the farmer's market for some produce, and then dropped the kid off and came home to cook. We had fried green tomatoes and ham steaks I am so tired though I honestly wasn't sure I wasn't gonna pass out at the stove cooking dinner My arms and legs feel like spaghetti noodles, and I am far from a weakling. I can handle most things, but today was just rough. I'm getting too old for this crap
I also had the delightful honor of a few little tiny hitchhikers. I need some more guineas. Ticks suck, both literally and figuratively :/
Remind me never to arm wrestle you! You must have honking biceps flinging all that steel!!
I was bragging on you today... actually, I was whining, because I put all my tomato seedlings outside to start hardening their puny butts off today and 90% of them died! Just flat out keeled over and croaked So, while whiney calfing to DH, who suggested it may have been the kind I was growing, I said "WBF grew hundreds of the same kind! Hers turned out great! She even sold a whole mess of them! Waaahhhh" He then suggested I take a class or buy a book, because I must be missing something (Gee, thanks for that vote of support, man-o-mine! ) So, if your ears were burning, it's not the beginning of fever from illness-transfer, it was just me
I'm so sorry a bunch of them died! Are you SURE they are dead? Try to take a glass of WARM water and pour over them all. They may just have slightly wilted, and the warm water will perk them back up within an hour or so. Also, if that helps revive them, try to leave them out only an hour the first day, two hours the next, 3 hours the next etc. etc. until they are out for a week or so, then you can leave them out overnight. Start out in the shade too. If they aren't used to full sun it can make them look crappy quickly!
I hope that helps! I whine a lot too, so meh...it's all good sister
Thanks WBF! I'll give that a try! They all had water in the tray under them, but I did stick them right out in the full sun, for several hours Guess maybe it's a good thing I didn't give them the old heave ho right into the compost pile then, huh?
