It got pretty rough here. DH was standing on the porch when a HUGE LOUD BOOM hit close and sent him back into the house really quick

When my kids were little, they loved thunderstorms--after every thunder boom my eldest would say, "do it again Mommy!"--until one time we were visiting friends who live in BC's Okanagan Valley (we live on the prairie right next to the Rocky Mountain foothills--very flat here) and the BOOM during a storm there was MUCH louder than at home, startled her quite a bit and made her cry. Now at 16 she doesn't like thunder at night.

Oh I'm SURE my niece will be up until 3 a.m. when the last of the warnings are over. That whole household will be beyond reasonable sense tomorrow

Oh, it doesn't keep her up--she sleeps like a rock--she just doesn't like it if she does happen to hear it if we get a storm after dark.

Around here it is LOUD and echos. I sleep like a rock too, but sometimes it wakes me up. I can usually sleep through about anything.

Yeah, that valley thunder was WAY lounder than we get here. Ours booms then kinda echoes quieter as it peters out. But not as loud as where our friends live. I think it's the lack of valley sides for it to bounce off. But our lightning looks way cooler--always multi-forked and often quite big--filling the sky. At night time it really lights things up. I wish I knew how to photograph it, hubs knows how but hasn't tried it for a long time.

Hope ya made it through the latest storm okay! :hugs

That baby grew huge when it left us, and I thought it was a "good one". Haven't had one in awhile, so we were loooong over due. :D

I have this knack of being pulled to the outdoors when the good storms hit here...I just love the energy! Doc and Bub both rolls their eyes but eventually break down and come out to join me. And NO, I don't stand out it the madness, I enjoy it from under the roof. ;)

I'm not overly fond of thunderstorms. But, we don't seem to get ones that are as severe as they used to be. Maybe it's just the area we live in. :hu

Lost some siding, and a few tree limbs, everything that wasn't nailed down blew around a good bit. The power went out for about 4 hours right after my last post on this thread. We survived though, and it added to my workload cleaning up the yard. I was aaaaaaaaaaalmost there...

Anyway, lots to do today. Cleaning the house, cleaning the yard, working at the neighbors helping them clean up their mess down there, baking, and stuff...lotsa stuff. Then tomorrow is the cookout with Pinky and her folks and getting my birds from the post office. I really need to clean more often, but I am just too darn busy!!!
