Watch for unadvertised sales on canning supplies!!

The Wife was in the local Meijer store yesterday and found an unadvertised sale on wide mouth canning jar lids. $1.99 per dozen. Around here that is pretty reasonable, so she bought 50 dozen.
She said she thought the jars were on sale also, but didn't really pay any attention to them, since we are pretty well set on jars.

Just a heads up! It is off season so you might just get lucky!!

Yup, TSC (ours is sort of but not really the same as the TSC chain in the U.S.) has been doing clearance recently and I got a buncha lids and some pickle crisp for about 70% off. Normally I heavily dislike TSC but I will grant them that I did get a good deal on *this* at least

SCR8PN, couldn't you get 50 dozen lids cheaper online? I haven't had to buy any lately (did score at TSC on small lids on clearance) but got good deals online in the past. Better than $2, can't remember how much, though. They are very pricey around here.

eta: Nevermind! I just did a quick google search....wow, they've gone up in price! I'm going to start stocking up on Tattler's!

We don't have a Meijers down this way. And I never see canning things on sale anywhere!!

I've been searching online and really can't find what I consider to be decent deals.

I'm even willing to buy a case at a time. Last year, I found some sweet deals, but didn't have the $$$ to make it happen.

I wonder what's going on? Or maybe this is just the new "normal"?

If you select the 612 wide mouth lids, that is 51 dozen @ 115 dollars.......that equals 2.25 per dozen PLUS you have shipping on top of that.
