The first house I owned .... down in Texas, had those WW2 pipes, we called them tar paper pipes.

Whatever... had to dig them all out and replace them.
I suspect our water board will resist that unless and until they are forced to by the regulator or someone else with authority over them.

if it ever comes up it might be worth just suggesting they reline it all in place as that can save a lot of digging and expense especially if there is rock involved.
