This is the best thing I have seen all week.

It occurs to me that a Lexan tube could be made very large and very durable for colder, more extreme climates, and used in this exact way.

Sealants: shoe goo, jb weld. Aquarium sealant. Plumbing sealant. Maybe liquid nails for a shingled roof.

I did the US version of these and purchased 3 skylights / solar tubes from Costco:

They are FANTASTIC! Same concept, but a bit more reliable (you are putting a hole in your roof) than a plastic bottle.



Light in third world countries is a pretty major issue. About 6 years ago I started this project with a friend: www.WorldTorch.com

I used two of the ones Nifty has, when I built the greenhouse, to light up the rear beds a little bit more. They work pretty well!!

I heard about this from another source. I'm going to use this in the chicken coop I'm building this year-just to see how it works. I think I might invest in some Solotubes or something similar as well. A friend has them and they are really remarkable.
