Woo hoo for Belleville!

Hahaha, anyway with our two labs that whole peeing when excited thing was a norm until they were over a year old, Hwin never really stopped doing it until she'd matured. Some Labs just take a lot longer to mature, and thus a lot longer to train (or housebreak?). For instance, Samari was housebroken in no time at all, she even asked to go outside. Hwin took over a year to housebreak, she was a more hunting type lab, tall and slim and full of beans whereas Samari was a duck tolling type lab, stocky and had way less energy than Hwin.

One thing my mum always swore by with labs was Fooey!, we used to mix it into paint when we painted any trim and it kept them from chewing everything in sight. Mari did end up eating an entire sofa one day, but that was partly my fault.

Great little pup.
I just love pound puppies. Ours is one, but doesn't know it, since she was in foster care from the moment she was brought to the shelter at 5 weeks with her litter mates. They were fostered out in pairs as bottle babies. Then we eneded up with her once she was weaned to foster her to spaying size. We decided to keep her ;)

She is a lab cross and the bestest farm dog ever. She is in my current avatar watching over some of our chicks. She likes helping with all the baby animals. Maybe because they drop desert :sick ;)

HOLYCOW, I just looked at the photos... he looks JUST like Samari!! And you know what? Samari has 'family' from Castleton, which is not far from Belleville. The breeder there is one of the biggest in the area and I wouldn't be surprised if he's related to one of hers.

Congratulations Pat! Wow what a cutie.

I think the pee leak will resolve as he grows or learns to deal with excitement. I'm sure you have thought of this but if not do check with a Vet, it could be medical, a low grade infection or something structural if it continues. Crating is perfect, love those things.

That peeing thing can also be uncertainty and a bit of anxiety. He'll grow out of it once he understands he's in his 'always' home. My Molly was the same way when I first got her, but she calmed down within a month and it never happened again. Congrats, Pat, as I've said, I want a dog, and when it's time, I'll get one.

I have a bunch of ridiculous photos of her, because being a crazy lab she would never sit still, ever, but they're not on this computer they're on my harddisc which i can't find the cable for BUT i have this photo of her poking her fat lab nose at the camera, she was about a year here.. its an awful photo because its a photo of a photo haha, but you get the idea. I have some WAY better ones of her where I swear to you, she is his twin!

Our doodle, Nacho, is her nephew =] She died in 2007 and after that Hwin was alone so we ended up finding Hwin a brilliant home as a hunting dog because Hwin and Mari were best buds, half sisters, ect. and it just wasn't the same after Mari died.

Too funny, lupinfarm! She really does look like him! If you ever stumble across any more illustrative pics I would love to see them. Do you remember the breeder's name?
