We got new chicks!!!!

I have been scouring Craigslist lately, wanting to add to our flock, but troubled over introducing illness into our group. Today I was finally going to take a risk and purchase some adult birds from nearby, but YAY, Orschelens was hanging thier chick days banner!!! We went home with six black sex link pullets(chicks). I'm happy because by the time we add them to the flock, I will know thier health.

I considered going with a heritage breed, like Marans, but I am limited on space here in town and wanted maximum egg production. I have the red sex link hens already, and they really produce. When we get our country home built, I plan to delve into heritage breeds in chickens, turkeys, and ducks(pigs, cows, etc., etc. lol)
