Nope, one of our bagless vacuums was like that, I can't remember for the life of me which model it was though.

Until just recently, we have always had 2 indoor/outdoor St. Bernards, a fat cat AND a teenager. I stand by the bagless vacuums. I think the one that caused the cloud of dust was the one that you dumped out from the top. the ones that you can just open the bottom into the trash can (outdoor trashcan) are worth their weight in gold if you have animals or messy teens. :)

I also bang the filter out on inside the trash can. (Gotta watch which way the wind blows though. :p)

I'm very surprised at all the pro-bagless peeps!

I was very concerned that either:

1) You'd have to buy and replace filters as often as you'd be replacing a bag
or
2) The "washable" filters wouldn't really be "washable"
or
3) The filters would plug up really quickly

Keep the suggestions (and the models) coming!

We love our bagless too. Loads of pet hair here. It is a Dyson though. We've had it for years and it still works great.

I have a Dirt Devil bagless for my sewing room. It is great for daily use.

I empty the canister and bang the filter.

I paid less than $60 for it.

No cleaning products get "daily use" in our house. Heck probably not even monthly!

No way Nifty you only vacuum one time per month

the filter is super easy to clean and super durable.
I wash mine, squish it, bang it, stick it outside to dry.
Be sure you get the bottom dumping one...it is easier than the top dump. Anytime you have to turn dirt upside down to dump you can have problems....heck I turned one to dump and missed 1/2 the garbage can. Duh....yea I had to vacuum it back up haha

only trouble I had is when Nicole cut up a bunch of ribbon into small pieces...I sucked them up and yea alot got caught in the top filter part. I just took it out, unplugged it and went on my way.
