Coming out my ears lately!! I have a wedding to attend Valentines Day and then another on the 26th. I have bought a dress, PINK no less  ...which was hard enough to figure out. I'm a country girl through and through. I want jeans and a t-shirt, and even though I go to church I prefer to stay as far away from dresses as possible cause ya just never know when you pull in from church if a goat will have it's head stuck in the fence in muddy weather and ya gotta go help him out or if you have to chase a dog out the chicken coop or anything. That's doesn't fly in heels and a dress either...I tried it once...it aint purty  SOOOOOO anyway, wedding #1 will be a breeze with just a nice pair of dressy pants and a pretty blouse...at the courthouse. The second one though, I'll have to wear the dress :/ I know what I can give my friend at the first wedding as a gift too. But the second wedding....uhh...

This girl was my bestest friend when we were aged 10-15 and then she moved off and became a "Debutante" an all that junk :sick When I KNEW her...we were wild and running off in the woods chasing boys with a stick and had dirt under our nails and ran our bikes through the stopped up ditches in the neighborhood for kicks. We stole her mommas car and went to town at midnight, and buried a time capsule out by the creek..... :hu I'm think she aint the same  They got uppity when they moved to Alabama :gig Imagine that......

I don't know what to give her and her new hubby. I know nothing about her anymore. I'm going to a fancy strangers wedding and I'm a....bridesmaid :th She has everything....big house, new car, nice clothes....she already has 2 kids or I'd offer her mine  :p I dunno what the crud to get her!!!!!!! :barnie

What I need is suggestions...got any of them laying around?

Ya'll better help me think of something or I'm taking her a goat :p That ought to go over good at the next pool party

Did you say you were a bridesmaid??? Whens the last time yo talked, saw, visited with her???

I say find the funniest picture of the two of you when you were younger. Mud, overalls, straw in your hair. :p Whatever you can come up with. Frame it and give it to her. Maybe she will remember her roots.

Or go dig up the time capsule and give her that!!

I talked to her on the phone about 3 months ago for the first time in 12? years I think! and YES I am a bridesmaid :th

I'd dig that up, but she wanted her bracelet back the next week  so we dug it up then  We were so weird as children ;)

Oh gosh I have the goofiest picture of us, but it would be SOOOOO embarassing! Think 80's stupid 8th graders....I can't believe she wore some of that stuff. She was always into the latest trends lol! That was before I had my braces too...not a good look for either of us

I'd say take her the goat as well as a couple of chickens! Wish someone had given them to me for my wedding. I still have gifts I've never used.

Awww, Wannabefree, you can be MY friend! If I was getting married, I'd LOVE a goat and a couple of chickens!

Hmmmm ... My second choice would be a mini-scrapbook with that pic and others you may have, and your memories and things like that. If she does happen to be the sort of person who wouldn't appreciate it, that would be a shame though.

One time I was invited to a wedding and didn't know the couple. I used to invitation to make color copies and made a big pillar candle with a set of smaller candles decorated as a wedding memento. It had their artwork, colors, name, and date from the invitation, and was sealed over with a thin coat of wax so you could still see it. I made bases for the candles from little flowers and greenery that matched her wedding flowers. I really liked the way it turned out.

Or maybe she's registered somewhere?

Are they newly moving into the house? I guess I'd be thinking something for the house in that case. If it were me, I'd rather get a nice plant than a silly appliance, since other people seem to have a different idea of what's useful than I do. And peoples' choices of cookware, etc. tend to be very individual.

Hmmmm .... I hope you get an idea that suits you. :)

The candle idea is great!! I like it! I think she would like that too :) Thanks for that idea Shiloh! I may do that one.

I have no idea where she is registered. She lives in another state :hu

You're welcome. :)

I liked it because it's personal and elegant, but can be made cute as well. It's not too expensive, and she won't have three others just like it!

Some invites are easier to use than others. Metallics don't photocopy, and neither does embossing. But if you are crafty and have metallic inks, etc. you can often turn up a nice impression with it. I do think it looks best with simple inks and colors like pinks and purples. Being Valentine's Day you might be able to easily buy very appropriate supplies if those are her colors? You could also ask for a spare invitation, or use your own if you don't want to save it.

LOL now I want to make one with just the flowers for my house. :)

That is really a cool idea, and I would have never thought of that! :) If you make it post some pics will you? I'm going to try to make this one, but if it doesn't turn out well I'm back to square one  wish me luck :D
