I finally scrounged up enough money to buy us an old tractor. No implements yet, but I will purchase them as I can. Right now, I just ride around the property with (as my wife says) a big, stupid looking grin. :D

It is an old Ford 9N, with the Sherman (hi/lo) transmission.

We plan to use it for keeping the driveway graded, the orchard cut, and the garden is getting large enough that it will greatly reduce our prep time.

Besides, I believe that there is law somewhere that says if you live in the country, that you must either have to have a tractor, or a pickup truck with a four wheeler in the back (and I didn't want a four wheeler).

kilo,

You have a good piece of machinery there. Those early Fords and Fergusons (which I believe the Ford was based on) are well built.

It sure is purdy!!!! Yeah, my dad is really crying about mom wanting to get rid of his 48 Case that he has owned for 32 years. I think it is somehow tied into his manhood, as well! :p

Although we are an International Harvester family, those old Fords are very good tractors. (doesnt owning a tractor make up just a little bit for the minivan behind it :p )

Good going on getting a Ford. I mentioned on another thread about buying a Farmall and not finding a single implement due to people cashing in the implements as scrap. Start looking for the accessories NOW!
We will be selling ours and buying a Ford because DH's dad has one with all the implements we can use.
