Congrats on the tractor. I love it. Everyone needs one.
And if things are anything at your house like they are at mine you will be using that same grin 2 years from now. LOL

I think it must be a man thang. Of course when I drive one I think I have that same grin so maybe its just a tractor thang.

jeallousss! we had planned on getting a similar tractor but ended up deciding on the atv and implements route because we can get most of the things we need for the garden and farm for an atv :D

good job on the ford!

Although we are an International Harvester family, those old Fords are very good tractors. (doesnt owning a tractor make up just a little bit for the minivan behind it :p )
Well, yeah... the minivan. Sorta anti-macho, I know.

The only thing that I can say in defense of the minivan is that it IS four wheel drive. :D

Very nice tractor. impliments for that one wont be hard to find. I suggest though that you ask around and find someone who has one and uses it to get them to help you figure it out, if memory serves correctly, the ford 8 and 9 n tractors dont have what is called "live power" in other words when you engage the "PTO" it only works when the clutch is released. They make an item I forget what its called that slips over the PTO shaft and acts as a clutch because if you have a mowerin the back and have to stop when you hit the clutch and the braake the mower blades spinning will continue to push the tractor forward.

Any way SYLVIE, what type of Farmall are do you own now? I aM REBUILDING A 1951 Farmall Cub. I might be able to help you locate impiments at reasonable prices close to you.

I used the Farmall name for brevity when it is in fact an International Harvester Cub which is identical to the Farmall Cub. DH says 1970. It is IH yellow and white, a real beauty.
Here's a generic image that looks just like it:

Yes, on these types of tractors (non live power pto's), it's an important item to have. The device is called an overrun clutch, and this tractor has one. It had been something that I had planned to add, if the tractor didn't come with one.

At the moment, my plans are to get a plow (probably two 14's or 12's), a single row disc harrow, a blade or a box blade, brush hog, and maybe a small boom for lifting. Later, a post hole auger might be nice.

I'd really like to get a pto driven tiller, but even with the Sherman transmission, low gear may be a little fast for a tiller to do a good job. I may see if I can locate one to rent or borrow, to try before I buy.
