Thanks for all the eggs-citement LOL...you guys crack me up

No BB I am not pregnant, I have served my time and I am out now,but I guess on probation, hopefully I will stay out of trouble :fl

$300 eggs...yep i sure seems that way! Guess I better enjoy this breakfast huh?

20 weeks for the EEers, both of them are posturing butone has been for about 2 weeks, the other just started a couple days ago. One egg was about 2/3 the size of the other...I am thinking they were both laid by Honey. Funny thing about my little Honey is that when I picked my little chicks up on that cold dark morning at the post office, she looked like she was in trouble. She was weak and barely standing. My DD drove home so that I could hold her up to my neck, I figured the heat of my body would help warm her up...I really did not think she would make it. Now she is head of the flock and the first to lay!!
One of the australorpes is posturing too....should have breakfast for the whole family soon!! :thumbsup

Don't you love the "egg song?" They make such a fuss, and everyone joins in, when someone is laying an egg.

Just wait for the double-yolkers that the pullets lay when they get going! And you might get a shell-less egg or two when they are really popping those eggs out fast!

My Dominique from my last batch of chicks almost died when my heat lamp failed overnight when they were very young and it was a very cold night....I held her against my stomach under my clothes until we got another heat lamp purchased and set up, bottles of hot water for the rest of the chicks until then. She was quite tame after that. Now she is raising six chicks for me, it was so worth working to save her! She has done such a great job, they have all survived and are thriving. And she has told them that I am wonderful and they are very tame, although I spend very little time handling them.

Chickens have so much personality.....I still marvel at it, after growing up next door to a commercial battery egg farm, and hauling chickens in and out every three months for them. Ugh.

Good Morning Dace!! Have you eaten your eggs yet? I am an egg snob now and only eat fresh eggs. The taste is out of this world, so flavorful! :clap

Congrats, Dace! You tickle me! I still get a thrill every time I gather eggs, after all these years and all these chickens. I marvel over the speckled ones or the big ones and even over the oddly shaped ones. It never gets old to me. :)

I get excited over just about anything too :)

I have not yet heard the egg song...I am hoping I pick it up soon because I keep the window nearest the coop open where I get a nice breeze. It would be nice to know when someone lays an egg so I can go get it!

I keep checking for more...none yet. :pop ...just waiting.

And yes I did eat one, the littlest one. It was so cute and yummy with that gorgeous orange yolk that I keep reading about!
I had to show off the other egg to all of my dinner guests last night who were quite impressed!
