since the "What are you listening to?" thread seems to be so popular, i thought it was about time we had a "What are you reading?" thread as well. a lot of you always have great reading suggestions, SS themed or otherwise, so it's time to put it all out there (this means you Buster! ;)).

right now i'm rereading articles from Wendell Berry's Bringing It to the Table and eagerly awaiting my reviewer copy of Tom Standage's An Edible History of Humanity.

you?

I pretty well never read SS themed books. Though, we did just buy "The Homeowners Complete Guide to the Chainsaw"

right now I'm reading, Youth in Revolt... so far its pretty awful but the movie was fantastic with the ever-awesome Michael Cera as Nick Twisp :)

:/ I'm kinda creepy and actually enjoy reading true crime type books.
not exactly "true crime," but have you read Stieg Larsson's "Girl Who" series? it's all the rage right now. i just read the first one, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and thought it was pretty good, but a bit overly "graphic sexual crime-y" for my tastes.

We're reading "Possum Living" right now. SO is dyslexic and we thought it would be fun for me to read to him. So we picked a book we thought we would both be interested in. So far it has been a lot of fun for us.
At the same time I started reading, "The Botany of Desire", by Michael Pollan. DD just finished reading it, so I am borrowing it. I saw the documentary and thought it would be interesting to read the book as well. I just haven't had that much time to read though.

I read that a few years back and thought it was fairly informational for such a young girl to write.

Right now I am slowly reading Death in the Long Grass by Peter Hathaway Chapstick, he sure can make any adventure sound dangerous but also with humor. I highly recommend it to any of you non-fiction people.

I love the murder mysteries (the bloodier, the better) or science fiction type (Dean Koontz for example). However, this summer is so busy for us that the last 6 books I had checked out from the library were returned unread. So, the only thing getting read now is Hobby Farms, Grit, Mother Earth News, and Backyard Poultry.

My hubby is dyslexic as well. When we were first married we would choose a good book and I would read it aloud each night. Great entertainment, CHEAP way to spend an evening and a GREAT bonding experience. More of this should take place.

Unfortunately HE usually loves to delve into sociology books, books on ancient peoples, astronomy, science and math, while I usually have a good book on some kind of SS skill or a historical novel about people's lives. Much of our reading is solo these days.
