Almost Self-Reliant
Gosh - corn cribs - that brings back such good memories of going to the corn crib (taking care of course not to bother papaw's guard snake in the summer). He had a wooden box with a sheller attached to it - we would shell a few ears, raise the door and push the shelled corn out into a bucket - then threw it to the chickens. In the winter time you could see 10-20 cardinals scratching in the snow where the chickens left a few morsels.
