My cute baby sprouting garden veggies really went wild after I let them sit out in the sun yesterday! My sunflowers grew about 2 inches in a day and the cucs, melons and squash really took off! I hope to Till the garden this weekend and get everything planted. We are expecting all rain and storms next week though... Not sure how that will affect freshly planted seeds and baby plants.

Go veggies! Hope you get 'em in the ground. Geeze if I hadn't planted weeks ago I wouldn't be able to plant anything in the mud plot I've got growing out there!

Not knowing it was going to pour rain today, I watered my surviving (2) strawberry plants yesterday and found a tiny fruit on one :love I'm going to have to find a way to cover it before the chickens or a bug gets it.

I finally got all my comfrey roots planted! YAY! Picked another big ol' zucchini yesterday and a couple yellow squash. Green beans are sparse, but saved up enough for a pot full a couple days ago.

Drum roll please - picked my first tomato yesterday! Ate it right in the garden. Thankfully, it's in a tub and too tall for Cowboy to pee on, lol!!!

Picked sugar snap peas and scuffle cut weedlings out of the garden. Perfect day for working out there but I had my 1 yr old grandgirl here with me and couldn't turn my back on her in the garden. She just staggered around in the chips, trampling all the good seedlings. :D

Bull in a china shop, little Ella. :love

I got pickling cucumbers in yesterday. The summer squash has sprouted. I need to get the dill planted.

Today we got cinderblocks so I can get the chicken drinkers off the ground. I got enough to raise my 5 grape pots up as well.

I'm trying to figure out what to put together to make a small mobile chicken pen to move around my overgrown raised
beds. Going to put some silkies to work since they don't mind confinement.

I'm trying to figure out a good mix for growing carrots in, in a tub. I grew them in straight compost last year and some of them did o.k. Many were very short and fat and I mean about an inch long short.

Lightweight chicken tractor..... PVC frame & chicken wire. You can make any size, quick, easy. Good for short term controlled access. Obviously not so much if predator issues but, that's not what you seem to be looking for to use.

I like the smaller carrots. You can grow in the shorter containers. I love baby carrots for cooking. I would use some loose soil in container with a good potting soil at top for seed.

My beans are up! DD and I planted sunflowers and pumpkins, squash and some random ornamental gourds we forgot to plant last year. The pumpkins and gourds turned into a seed tossing fiasco, thanks impatient 4 year old. Good thing I had a million extra seeds!

Tomatoes should be ready to transplant this weekend, weather permitting. They've been outside all day the past two days.

My peppers quit. I've never had pepper plants make it into the garden from seed. Normally I would buy some starts but I don't really have all that much space and they don't grow that great here anyway so I don't think I'll bother. I would rather have more tomatoes!
