When I built mine, some years ago, we put a mix of bagged topsoil, compost and manure. One bit of advice - get the good stuff if you don't have any good soil or compost of your own to put in them. I bought stuff to fill some new tubs this year and didn't follow my own advice... I thought I could supplement with lots of manure from the barn. Didn't put enough in the first go round so I'm still supplementing and trying to find that right balance.

Thanks, I tried to make raised beds last year with our cruddy soil and it failed majorly! I'll buy some moo-doo lol. Our manure is all full of shavings and hay so it won't go in the garden this year!

We are under some light rain here and I am so happy to see that. I need the grass seeds to get going out there now and the garden won't mind either. I have 3 zucchini seedlings :) I dug some smallish glass jars out of the shed, so I placed them over the seedlings to keep the buggers off them for awhile.

That looks awesome! (especially those temps - we're sweltering)
We'll get to the mid 80's on our hottest days here and that doesn't happen often. Ireland's weather is wonderfully mild (with the exception of our last winter!)

Planted sweet potatoes, and more cucumbers today. If my cukes do bad, I still expect to make a few dozen quarts of pickles. I have planted a bunch! Getting ready to re-plant the okra, and water tonight. Praying for rain! My beans and corn need to finish coming up.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to plant cucumbers. I decided to wait for the weather to get a bit warmer and forgot about it.

I think I need to plant more tomatoes as well… I put a few seeds in-between the zucchinis, but I don't see any signs of life there, apart from weeds, which I'm too scared to pull, in case it's a tomato! (Great excuse for not weeding ;) )
