pretty toasty and humid out there this morning and i was already getting too hot and had to stop working by 9:30am. i'm about halfway done with the cleanup so that isn't too bad considering the size of the garden. some rain would really help soften up that soil.

tomorrow is another day... garden club meeting this afternoon. a good day to be stuck indoors for a few hours.

Very lightly roughed up all unplanted area in garden, knock out the wanna grow grass...light breeze, so I'm dusty! But HOT out now. So should dry that crap up. Took 6 bales of hay mulch with FEL on tractor. I'll spread that later. After a cold drink, gonna mark rows, get seeds in ground....a couple plants to put out....some cardboard. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. Hope this work doesn't spoil that!

Had my propane torch thing out there, so burned some weeds along fence line for practice! Hoping it works well...then there's the weed whacker another day. :idunno

Those older onion set I put out are sprouting well!!😁😁. Tomatoes blooming. Tiny squash on a couple plants...flower just died off. Eggplants are growing. 👍. So far, so good.

Have some pots to put some herb seed in...that's a weekend job. Today's full.

i've just been planting directly into the ground for many years. this year is the first time i've planted a few seeds in some gallon pots because i'll need to baby these plants during the hot part of the summer. i don't think they like the hot weather so i'm trying to see if i can get them have some decent beans on them by bringing them into the AC when it gets too hot outside. today will be one of those days so they'll come in.

if you come up with a list of beans you'd like for next season send me a PM this winter and i'll mail you some. wish you were closer you could just come get them. i have a few hundred beans here.
You just left a wide door open, lol I may live in Oceana County but I love driving everywhere, lol Next 25th will be going to Lansing to a chickenstock, lol There are only 4 State's I have not been in. 2 are Alaska and Hawaii because there are no roads on the water, lol

Will pm tomorrow.

Do you have head lettuce or leaf?

I don't do head because I am too impatient. I pick my leaf lettuce when they are around 3 inches onto about 5 tops, but again depends on variety.

Edited-sorry for the typo was on my phone-laptop much better. AND maybe I do lick it!
Ope the phone-laptop tasted good! Great gardening here! Everything might be edible, lol

I do not eat lettuces at all. Hub does. I planted the head ones on the ground today. Four leaf lettuce left but too hot.

My hub thinks he has a sense of humor. Asked him to hang my gloves to dry and this is what he came up with. He is such a donkey!

ok, here's a better plan then, if you like to drive consider attending the seed swap in mid-Michigan next Feb:

https://www.smallhousefarm.com/seedswap/ as i hope to be there and also plenty of others. :)

Ok -- no patience and a cool 70, windless, overcast morning -- I went on out to cardboard and mulch last of squash and zucs. 😁. Things were moving along and apparently I annoyed Mother Nature, who promptly sent a rumble, then rain onto me!!! A lot of rain! chastised and wet, I ran to the house to strip and shower. :hide

Guess it's true, never mess with Mother Nature! But I'm glad I got her moving! :old

Surviving the heat
Heat? They are saying we ain't seen nothing yet. I hope it stays south of you FJ it's currently 96 degrees @ 5:45. But they are saying after a bit of a break over the weekend it's expected to get to triple digits next week 🥵
