I spread some goat/horse/barn gold in some rows, covered 'em with feed sacks and then mulched over it all with hay so it doesn't look so tacky. When it's time to plant in those rows I'll just plant through the feed sack. It'll probably be rotten by then anyway. Side-dressed the onions and pulled a few weeds.

Noticed that the Chijimisai greens are starting to bolt. Actually noticed that a couple of the plants are starting to bolt. That's ok with me because I want to make darn sure I get to save a few seeds and I've already planted a fresh row that's starting to pop up. I'm interested to see how it handles the summer heat.

Thinking about using paper feed sack in the garden this year. Not the plastic ones, man they make a mess!

Those plastic ones are worse than pulling weeds once they crumble! They do work for a one season container, though. Stand up sack, roll down sack, add dirt. Punch couple holes near bottom to drain. Single plant or some small crops...lettuce, carrots, herbs, plant starts, etc.

Actually hard to find paper feed sacks. I'm getting ready to bring in big cardboard boxes now. Reset season often has large boxes of fixtures. The stores that have air filters ship in big white boxes. So works out for garden time. I keep a couple heavy, short boards on my truck for weight on them. Storage in horse trailer for couple months. 🤣. Box cutter to size when using.

I have a farmer who will custom mix and sells. He only uses 55 gal plastic drums. So buy and switch out at refill. He'll load in truck. Then I have to use tractor at home and it limits where i can put it. Like 400# each isn't carry weight. Shame.
